KineLab is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about how we handle data in our biomechanical research platform. This policy explains our data practices for both our research application and this website.

📊Data Collection

iOS App Data Processing (Local Only)

When you use the KineLab iOS app, the following data is processed entirely on your device:

• Video Files: Videos you import from your photo library for pose analysis
• Pose Landmark Data: 33-point pose coordinates extracted using AI pose detection
• Research Metadata: Optional subject IDs, movement types, and notes you provide
• Processing Statistics: Frame counts, processing times, and app performance metrics
• Device Information: iOS version and device model for compatibility purposes only

Website Data Collection

When you visit our website or join our waiting list, we collect:

• Contact Information: Name, email, institution (voluntarily provided)
• Professional Information: Role, research interests (optional fields)
• Technical Data: Basic website analytics (page views, form submissions)
• Communication Preferences: Email subscription status and preferences

Optional Feedback Survey (Beta Testers)

During beta testing, we may collect anonymous feedback through an in-app survey to improve the app. This survey is completely optional and can be skipped at any time. Data collected includes:

• Bug Reports: Text descriptions of technical issues you experience (optional)
• Satisfaction Ratings: Ease of use (1-5 scale) and recommendation likelihood (0-10 scale)
• Test Modes Used: Which test modes you've tried (checkboxes)
• Feature Requests: Suggestions for improvements (optional text)
• Email Address: Only if you opt-in to receive follow-up about your feedback
• App Metadata: App version, iOS version, device model, usage statistics (tests completed, days since install)

Survey data is:

• ✓ Anonymous - Not linked to your identity or user account
• ✓ Optional - You can skip the survey at any time
• ✓ Encrypted - Transmitted securely via HTTPS
• ✓ Limited use - Used only to improve app functionality, never sold or used for advertising
• ✓ Infrequent - Survey appears automatically after 3+ tests with 90-day cooldown, or via manual "Send Feedback" button

Survey responses are stored in our Supabase database (PostgreSQL) with anonymous authentication. You can request deletion of your survey data at any time by contacting us at contact@kinelab.eu.

Face Landmark Data Collection

The app uses AI pose detection technology that analyzes 33 body landmarks, including 10 facial landmarks (nose, eyes, ears, mouth). This data is used exclusively for biomechanical analysis:

• What We Collect: 3D coordinates (x, y, z) of 10 facial landmarks plus visibility scores
• Purpose: Calculate head position/orientation for movement analysis, body alignment, and center of mass estimation
• Processing: 100% on-device - NEVER uploaded to servers or cloud services
• Sharing: NOT shared with any third parties
• Storage: Processed in memory during analysis (~5-30 seconds), then discarded unless you save results to your profile
• Retention: If saved to profile: retained locally on device until you delete the result or uninstall the app
• NOT Used For: Facial recognition, identity verification, biometric authentication, or any identification purposes

Important: Face landmark coordinates are geometric data points used for pose analysis, NOT facial recognition. They cannot be used to identify you and are never transmitted off your device.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• Personal health information or medical data
• Facial recognition data or identity verification information
• Location data or device tracking
• Social media or third-party account information
• Financial or payment information

⚙️Data Processing

Local Processing Only

All biomechanical analysis occurs entirely on your device:

• Videos are processed using AI pose detection locally
• No video content or pose data is transmitted to external servers
• Processing results remain under your complete control
• No cloud uploads or external data transmission occurs

Temporary Processing Files

During analysis, temporary files may be created on your device for:

• Video frame extraction and processing
• Intermediate pose detection results
• CSV export generation

These temporary files are automatically cleaned up after processing completes.

💾Data Storage & Retention

Local Device Storage

• All research data remains stored locally on your device
• You have complete control over data retention and deletion
• No automatic backups to external services
• Data persists only as long as you choose to keep it

Website Information

• Waiting list information is stored securely for communication purposes
• We retain contact information until you request removal
• You can unsubscribe or request data deletion at any time

🔬Research Use & Data Sharing

User-Controlled Data Sharing

KineLab does not automatically share or use your research data:

• You control all data export and sharing decisions
• No automatic participation in research studies
• Data sharing occurs only through your explicit actions (CSV export, manual sharing)
• You are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent when sharing data

Research Collaboration

If you choose to collaborate with our research team:

• Data sharing requires your explicit consent
• Shared data is handled according to research ethics protocols
• You retain rights to your original data
• Collaboration terms are agreed upon separately
